Missing the sun yet?

“One must maintain a little bit of summer, even in the middle of winter.”

– Henry David Thoreau

Summer is well and truly over. And as the clocks are due to go back later this month, I’m preparing for the darkness and cold weather that lies ahead.

My daily boost of vitamin D comes in the form of speaking with people interested in purchasing property in sunnier spots: Spain, Italy, the Caribbean and the Middle East to name a few.

I personally love the hot weather and I completely understand the desire to relocate abroad or to purchase a property that you can visit whenever you feel the need for some sun.

Here are some reasons why people choose to invest in property in these beautifully warm areas:

Investment:

Due to the high demand for properties in sunny countries, especially those with beach access or scenic views, there’s a good chance that property values will appreciate in value over time, making them a good investment. For those looking to diversify their investment portfolio, real estate in holiday destinations can provide another asset, not relying on stocks and bonds and potentially reducing any risk. These properties can also generate a good rental income.

Health & happiness:

These areas often provide a pleasant climate year-round, which can noticeably enhance quality of life, particularly for those of us who don’t enjoy the cold, dark winters. Exposure to sunlight increases our vitamin D levels, which is beneficial for bone health but has also been linked to improved mood and reduced depression. Something to think about!

Planning for retirement:

Many people dream of retiring in a sunny, warm place where they can enjoy outdoor activities year-round. Buying property in sun-soaked locations can be part of planning for a comfortable, enjoyable retirement.

Whatever your reason, if you’re keen to consider an overseas property, I have sold holiday homes for several years and would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
